The axillary fossa is opened from in front. On the abducted arm the cut stump of the Biceps brachii (1), the inserting part of the Pectoralis major (2), the musculocutaneous nerve (3) and the median nerve (10) can be observed. The latter is situated in the medial bicipital groove. The Latissimus dorsi (9), the Pectoralis major (2) and Pectoralis minor (5) can also be studied at bottom. In the middle of the groove notice the axillary artery (6) and vein (7). The lateral cord (4) lying next to the artery together with its branch, the musculocutaneous nerve (3) also deserves attention. The chain of the axillary lymph nodes (8) is located below the vessels and nerves of the axillary fossa.
