The left iliac fossa and its features. At top the abdominal aorta (1) is to be seen with its bifurcation and its midline branch, the median sacral artery (2). Find the internal iliac artery (4) entering the pelvis. Study the sigmoid arteries (3) and medial to them, their connection with the superior rectal artery. Inspect the sigmoid colon (8), the external iliac artery and vein (6), the ductus deferens (5) crossing them, and laterally, in the iliac fossa the lateral cutaneous nerve of the thigh (7).
